The Ultimate Checklist Before You Launch a Site in Framer

You’ve finished designing. The animations are smooth. The layout feels solid.
But before you hit “publish” - pause.
A site isn’t ready just because it looks good. It’s ready when it performs, converts, and feels intentional.
This is the exact checklist I use before launching any Framer site - whether it’s a personal build, a client project, or a premium template.
Layout & Structure
Check spacing across all sections - nothing should feel too tight or awkwardly empty. Consistent padding, margins, and visual rhythm make a huge difference.
Preview your site on desktop, tablet, and mobile. Framer handles responsiveness well, but minor layout tweaks across breakpoints can make it feel truly polished.
Double-check the header and footer. Are links styled correctly? Does the sticky nav behave as expected? Is the mobile menu smooth?
Watch scroll behavior throughout the page. Animations should guide the eye, not distract. Keep it clean and directional.
Content & SEO
Make sure there’s no placeholder copy left - no lorem ipsum, no “type here.” Read every section out loud. It should sound like a person, not a placeholder.
Set proper page titles and meta descriptions. They matter for SEO and social previews. Keep them short, clear, and focused on the page’s purpose.
Add alt tags to all images. It’s a tiny detail, but improves both accessibility and SEO rankings.
Click every link - header, footer, buttons, CTAs, and inline text links. Fix anything that leads nowhere or opens in the wrong tab.
Performance & Media
Optimize images before uploading. Keep hero images under 500KB, convert to WebP where possible, and avoid oversized PNGs unless needed.
Limit font usage. One or two font families and just a few weights will keep the site feeling fast and focused.
If you’ve added any custom code - like analytics or embeds, make sure they’re working correctly and not slowing things down.
Animations & Interactions
Ensure buttons, links, and cards have hover feedback. Even subtle effects improve usability and signal clarity.
Test all scroll animations on mobile devices. Some interactions feel perfect on desktop but clunky or delayed on touchscreens.
Avoid overusing animations. Framer makes it easy to add motion everywhere, but smart restraint creates smoother, more confident experiences.
CMS & Components
Preview multiple CMS items live on your site. Test long headlines, multiple tags, and edge cases to make sure your layout holds up.
Handle empty states with care. If there’s no blog post, no testimonial, or missing image - show a graceful fallback.
If you used Framer’s Workshop AI to generate components, test them across devices and customize them for consistency.
Final Polish
Set your favicon. It’s a small visual cue that adds credibility in the browser tab.
Upload a proper social sharing image (OG image) in page settings. Preview your site on Slack, Twitter, and LinkedIn to make sure it shows up right.
Open your site on a 4G connection, not just Wi-Fi. It should still load fast and feel smooth.
Test your 404 page. Just try a broken URL - you don’t want visitors landing on a blank screen.
Bonus: My Pre-Launch Ritual
Before I launch, I open the site on my laptop, my phone, and a random Android device. I scroll through it like a first-time visitor. I don’t touch the canvas. I don’t edit anything. I just watch.
It always catches something I missed.
Final Words
Launching a site in Framer is fast - but that last 10% of polish is what sets your work apart.
Use this checklist. Make it your own. And when you hit publish, do it with confidence.
